1st Day: New York - Naples

Pack your bags and get ready for the journey of a lifetime. You’ll meet the rest of your group at the airport, and together you’ll fly from New York City to Naples.

On your first full day in Naples, you’ll visit Herculaneum, the best preserved of all of Italy’s ancient Roman cities. Together, with the rest of your group, you’ll then hike to the summit of Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano which buried both Herculaneum and Pompeii in ash when it erupted in 79 AD.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you’ll take a tour of Pompeii and visit the amazing Neapolitan catacombs. Then, in the afternoon, you’ll take a trip to the Amalfi Coast, where you can enjoy lunch and take a quick dip in the Mediterranean Sea.

After returning to your hotel in the evening, you’ll pack your things and board a private shuttle which will take you to Rome.

You will see a LOT on your first day in the Eternal City. Learn about the history of Rome from the center of the empire itself. Highlights include Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and a private tour of the world-famous Colosseum.

Your second day in Rome will give you the opportunity to explore The Vatican. The smallest country in the world, headquarters of the Catholic Church, and home of the Pope, Vatican City has played a significant role in many of history’s most important events.

The highlights include St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museums. Later, in the evening, you can also take an optional walk to see the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

From Rome, you’ll head further north to the ancient, walled city of Montepulciano. Located on a hilltop overlooking the Tuscan countryside, the city of Montepulciano is famed for the wine which bears its name. You’ll enjoy a lunch-time wine tasting in cellars which date back to the 1500’s and then have the rest of the day free to explore the city on your own.

From Montepulciano, you’ll make your way to Florence, the home of the Renaissance. You’ll visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (“the Duomo”), see Michaelangelo’s David statue in person, and in the evening, witness a truly unique sight, as the ancient game of “Florentine Football” (Calcio Fiorentino) is played at the Piazza Santa Croce.

From Florence, you’ll travel to the Floating City of Venice. Built across more than 100 small islands, Venice is one of the most unique cities in the world. You’ll take a trip down the Grand Canal, visit St. Mark’s Square, and take a tour of the Doge’s Palace, including the torcher chamber and the cell in which the infamous seducer Casanova was imprisoned for his “public outrages”.

The final day will give you time to soak in your last moments in Italy. Spend the morning and afternoon exploring Venice at your own pace—wandering the labyrinthine streets, gliding through the canals on a gondola, admiring intricate glasswork in a Murano shop, or delving into the genius of Leonardo at the Da Vinci Museum.

In the evening, the group will come together for a farewell dinner to reflect on the incredible journey which you have shared together, before heading to the airport to return home with more than just souvenirs, but with friendships and memories to last a lifetime…
